Subscription Usage Metering

Subscribers to the StarPrinter.Online service, with an active subscription are billed monthly, in arrears, based on usage.

Note that there is no charge for initial trial/developer usage.

Three levels of subscription are available, Essential, Standard and Enterprise. Usage levels are calculated differently depending on subscription level.

Usage Calculations

Essential Subscribers

Essential subscribers are invoiced based on the number of devices that they have connected to the service, and the number of print jobs processed by the service.

  • Number of devices: All devices registered to the users StarPrinter.Online account are counted.
  • Number of print extensions: One or more print extensions will be added for each printer that has received more than 1000 print jobs, an additional print extension charge is added, continuing for each additional 1000 jobs received.

Print extensions are calculated per printer, therefore if an Essential user has two printers connected to the service, and both receive approximately 800 jobs, no additional print extension is required.

Essential customers can avoid being billed for printers that are not in active use, by removing them from their account.

Standard Subscribers

Standard subscribers are invoiced based on the number of devices that they have connected to the service, and the number of print jobs processed by the service. However, Standard subscribers will not be billed for devices that have not been used during the monthly cycle, subject to a minimum order quantity.

  • Number of devices: All devices will be counted that have actively connected to the service within the monthly billing cycle, excluding unused devices. The number of billed devices is subject to a minimum quantity of 50.
  • Number of print extensions: One or more print extensions will be added for each printer that has received more than 2000 print jobs, an additional print extension charge is added, continuing for each additional 2000 jobs received.
  • Unused devices: a printer is considered to be unused if it has not connected to the StarPrinter.Online service (i.e. has been switched off, disconnected or had it's CloudPRNT URL changed/removed), and has not received any print jobs within the monthly billing cycle.

Print extensions are calculated per printer, therefore if an Essential user has two printers connected to the service, and both receive approximately 1900 jobs, no additional print extension is required.

Enterprise Subscribers

Enterprise subscribers are invoiced based on the number of devices that they have connected to the service. Enterprise subscribers will not be billed for devices that have not been used during the monthly cycle or have been staged for later deployment, subject to a minimum order quantity. Enterprise customers do not face any limit or additional charges based on print job quantity.

  • Number of devices: All devices will be counted that have actively connected to the service within the monthly billing cycle, excluding unused or staged devices. The number of billed devices is subject to a minimum quantity of 100.
  • Staged or Unused devices: a printer is considered to be unused or staged if it has been connected to the StarPrinter.Online service for fewer than 2 hours within the billing cycle, and has received 10 or fewer print jobs.
